3rd ID command to change hands Friday

The command of the 3rd Infantry Division will change hands Friday morning.

Maj. Gen. Christopher Norrie will relinquish command of the division to Brig. Gen. John Lubas.

 Lubas has been the director of operations, readiness and mobilization for the Deputy Chief of Staff G-3/5/7 at the Pentagon.

As Lubas takes over, two 3rd Infantry Division units will be heading back to Europe for a rotation.

The Army announced Monday that the 3rd Division Artillery and the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade will be going to support NATO allies and partners.

The Division Artillery will replace the 1st Division Artillery of the 1st Armored Division and the CAB will replace the 1st Armored’s Combat Aviation Brigade.

A timetable for the upcoming deployment has not been announced.
