Atlantic Area CASA gives thanks for Angel Trees
Atlantic Area CASA gives thanks for Angel Trees
Atlantic Area CASA, Inc. staff members along with Ursula Melendez of Interstate Credit Union-Midway show off some of the Angel Tree presents.

Atlantic Area Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Inc. proudly celebrates the overwhelming generosity and community spirit displayed during its inaugural 2024 Angel Tree Drive. From November 18 to December 16, this first-ofits- kind effort united local businesses, organizations, and community members to bring joy to children in foster care during the holiday season.

The Angel Tree Drive featured partnerships with local businesses across CASA’s six service areas, where angel trees were displayed. Community members visited these locations, selected an angel from the tree, and purchased the items listed. Thanks to the incredible support of both our business partners and the community, Atlantic Area CASA, Inc. was able to ensure every child in foster care received a special Christmas gift, making the season truly memorable.

This year’s success would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated partners, including SNF, Interstate Credit Union-Midway, Bryan County Chamber of Commerce, Long County Public Library, Long County Family Connection, Tattnall County Kiwanis, Roden’s Law, and Shaundra Robinson and Amanda Goodell from the Public Health Office at Winn Army Medical Hospital.

“It’s an unfortunate thing to experience Christmas or the holiday season without your birth family and so many of our foster children has experienced that firsthand,” said Atlantic Area CASA executive director Petula Gomillion. “And with the act of kindness and generosity from so many, it truly warmed my heart during this holiday season and it helped eased the emptiness that many of our children may have experienced. I am thankful for my staff and the CASA volunteers who served as ‘Santa’s little elves’ by picking up and delivering these amazing gifts to our children in care right here in Liberty County to all the way to Atlanta. So, thank you for being a cheerful giver.”

Atlantic Area CASA, Inc. is already planning the 2nd Annual Angel Tree Drive later this year. If you or your organization would like to host an Angel Tree for the 2025 holiday season, stay tuned for more details.
