Early voting in the Midway mayor runoff will take place November 24–26.
A runoff is required after none of the three candidates claimed a majority of the votes cast. Malcolm Williams, who gave up his city council seat to run for mayor, was the top vote-getter with 175. Stanley Brown, who also gave up his council seat to run for mayor, finished with 173 votes. Kenneth Williams received 154 votes.
Early voting will be conducted at both the Liberty County Elections Office, at the historic courthouse on 100 North Main Street in Hinesville, and at the Liberty County Community Complex at 9397 East Oglethorpe Highway in Midway. Early voting will take place from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. at each location.
Election day will be December 2 and polls will be open at the Liberty County Community Complex from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
Current mayor Levern Clancy gave up his post to run for a city council seat and fell two votes shy of getting one of the four seats.
The next mayor will have an entirely new council. Midway voters put Annie Foskey, Janet Bryant Jones, Vernon Donovan and Rhonda Thomas into office. Incumbents Dr. Clemontine Washington and Henry Stevens Sr. were not returned to their seats.
