Wawa has announced the date of Thursday, February 20 for its first store opening in Liberty County located in Hinesville.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. for the store at 824 E. General Stewart Way, with a ribbon cutting set for 8:30 a.m.

During the grand opening event, Wawa will host festivities and a ribbon cutting, announce community partnerships and support for local organizations and celebrate local everyday heroes with its signature “Hoagies for Heroes” initiative.

“We are excited to continue our expansion in Georgia with our first store in Liberty County located in Hinesville” said Nancy Dulaney, director of Store Operations. “We look forward to continuing to bring our unique brand of fresh food, beverages and convenience to new areas and to further our commitment to providing the community with not only a new level of convenience but a strong, committed community partner.”

Wawa opened its first stores in Georgia in 2024 in Bainbridge, Brunswick and Jesup. In 2025, Wawa will open five to six additional stores, including a second store in Hinesville, before the end of the first quarter, as well as stores in Pooler, Waycross, Valdosta and Albany before year end. Over the next five to eight years, Wawa plans to build and open more than 26 stores in Georgia, at the pace of around three to four stores per year.

To build each store, Wawa will invest approximately $7.5 million and employ, on average, 140 contractors and local partners. Once open, each store will employ an average of 35 associates, with Wawa expecting to create almost 900 long-term new jobs.

Wawa associates own 39% of the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
