Headed to Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day?

Savannah’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Gwinnett and Abercorn streets, immediately following the celebration of the Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

Following are some of the city’s frequently asked questions about the parade and the festivities.

Is there a festival?

No. There is no longer a permitted festival. This decision was made in 2021 by the Mayor and Council in an effort to get back to the family atmosphere of the St. Patrick’s Day parade. The city expects a very busy weekend in the social and nightlife districts, so please party responsibly.

There will be no entertainment, bands, stages, alcohol sales, or vendors on the public rights-of-ways. Please take this opportunity to patronize the many local establishments.

Will there be out-of-town party buses?

No. The City is not issuing permits to any out-of-town motorcoaches during the weekend.

Will you be selling wristbands?

No. There will be no outdoor entertainment and/or food and alcohol sales, so there will be no wristbands sold. The city encourages you to patronize local businesses!

Will there be food trucks?

Yes. There will be food trucks at several locations in the celebration area. You can see some of these locations at https://savannahga.gov/3658/St-Pats-Weekend.

Can I take part in the “Land Rush” in the squares?

Yes, but please check out the land rush info at https://www.savannahga. gov/3668/Parks-and-Squares.

Can I walk around with a drink south of Forsyth Park?

Yes. However ONLY on Tuesday, March 17th. This is when the To-Go Cup Zone will be extended out to Victory Drive.

Can I have a picnic in a square?

Yes. Parade-goers are encouraged to enjoy the day with their friends and family. You are responsible for removing all of your trash. Please help keep the squares beautiful and clean.

What happens if a child gets separated from their family?

Report this immediately to the nearest police officer, firefighter, or EMS personnel, or call 911. Every effort possible will be made to locate and reunite you with your loved one. Snap, Save, Share take a photo of your children on parade day in the outfit they are wearing so the image can be shared quickly!

What if I lose personal property?

All lost property items will be brought to the Civic Center Mason Room from Saturday to Monday.

What happens if my car is towed?

If your car is towed, you will need to go to Savannah Police Department Headquarters at 201 Habersham Street to obtain your release form and learn where your vehicle is located.

What time do I have to have my car removed from the parade route?

All vehicles must be removed from the parade route by 12:01 a.m. on the morning of the parade.

Where can I buy a drink?

Anywhere you can buy a drink on any other day of the year. Remember though - You must be 21 years old and have a valid ID.
