The Hinesville Police Department is investigating a suspected accidental, self-inflicted shooting involving a 2-year-old child.
Officers responded to a home in the 600 block of Slade Street after receiving a report of a child with a gunshot wound. The child was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center, where the child was pronounced deceased at 3:50 p.m.
Early information shows the incident appears to be accidental. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
