The Hinesville Police Department, in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, announces the launch of a brand-new Girl Scout troop for fourth and fifth grade girls. The troop — uniquely led and mentored by members of the Hinesville Police Department — will focus on building leadership, confidence, and community engagement among local girls while strengthening the bond between youth and law enforcement.

This innovative partnership brings together two organizations committed to service, safety, and shaping future leaders. Through this troop, girls will earn badges that explore STEM, leadership, and civic engagement while learning directly from officers who serve as role models in courage, integrity, and public service.

“Our goal is to create a safe and inspiring space for girls to see leadership in action and imagine what’s possible for their own futures,” said Krystal Crawford, CEO of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. “When girls see women in uniform guiding them, they learn that leadership isn’t just something you read about — it’s something you live out in your community.”

The Hinesville Police Department will host regular troop meetings and provide hands-on learning experiences that help girls understand teamwork, responsibility, and the power of giving back.

“This is about connection,” said Chief Tracey Howard of the Hinesville Police Department. “We want young girls in our community to know that their police department is here to support them, believe in them, and invest in their dreams. These Girl Scouts will grow up knowing they belong, they matter, and they can lead.”

The new troop officially kicked off with an introductory meeting last week at the Hinesville Police Department, with registration open to all interested fourth and fifth grade girls in the area.
