Job fair coming to Riceboro

The Liberty County Development Authority (LCDA) is hosting a Liberty County Job Fair in partnership with DS Smith/International Paper Riceboro, City of Riceboro, Liberty County, Liberty County Recreation Department, Liberty County Chamber, RISE (Regional Industry Support Enterprise), Savannah Technical College, and WorkSource Coastal Georgia. The event is designed to support employees impacted by the announced closure of the International Paper mill, but all job seekers are welcome.

The job fair will be held September 10, from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Riceboro Youth Center, 5649 South Coastal Highway.

Job seekers can meet directly with employers ready to hire, learn about open positions across industrial sectors, participate in on-site interviews with select companies and access resume-writing support and job search resources.

Employers will benefit from access to a highly skilled, disciplined, and dedicated workforce eager to transition into new opportunities — many of whom are seeking to remain close to their previous place of employment.

Employers can fill out an online interest form to be considered for inclusion at www.lcda.com or by emailing nina.butler@comegrow.global by noon Wednesday, September 3. Space is limited.

“We are proud to stand with the employees in our community during this transition and grateful to our local and regional partners who are stepping up to support,” said LCDA Vice President Malissa MacKay. “We are asking everyone to please help spread the word to interested employers and job seekers looking for their next opportunity.”
