Long County Schools have cancelled classes for Tuesday and Wednesday because of the forecast for potentially unsafe conditions.

All athletic activities, practices, and school events are cancelled for these dates. District administrators will continue to work closely with local EMA officials to monitor weather conditions. Additional announcements will be made Wednesday concerning plans for returning to normal operations.

School system officials said there is a possibility that the school closure may need to be extended through Thursday.

Schools are closed today in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
