The Georgia State Patrol is investigating an accident this morning which claimed the life of a man on Interstate 95 southbound in Liberty County.

According to GSP Trooper David Laff, the man, identified as Ceymour Thompson, 72, of Orange County, Florida, left his vehicle on the left-hand shoulder of mile marker 78 on the interstate and began walking south. Laff said preliminary findings indicate the man walked past exit 76 in Midway when he entered the road way and was struck by a 2020 Volvo XC90 shortly after 5 a.m. A couple traveling from Ohio to Naples, Florida, was in the Volvo.

Thompson was reported by his spouse as missing to the Orange County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.
