Fort Stewart authorities issued a brief lockdown Monday afternoon after a shooting incident.

Shots were fired in the vicinity of Engineer Road at approximately 2:09 p.m.

Law enforcement responded and apprehended a suspect within minutes of the incident. There were no injuries involved in the incident. The suspect has been identified as Sgt. Christopher Dandridge. Dandridge, 24 years old, is a network communications systems sergeant.

Dandridge has been assigned to Fort Stewart since April 2022 and has one deployment to the Middle East.

Out of an abundance of caution, Fort Stewart issued a lockdown for the installation at 2:20 p.m. and lifted the lockdown at 2:32 p.m. after the threat was cleared.

Dandridge is in pre-trial confinement at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
