The 2026–27 school year will start on August 4 and end on May 21, after Liberty County school board members approved school year calendars for 2026–27 and 2027–28.

The 2027–28 school year will have schools open their doors on August 3, 2027, with the last day of class set for May 19, 2028.

Two calendar options were created and sent to stakeholders. There were 786 votes for option B on both calendars, giving it a 68.6% approval for the 2026–27 school year and a 64.6% approval for the 2027–28 school year.

Students will half-days on September 4, October 8, January 15, February 12 and March 26 for the coming school year. Teacher workdays will be held October 9, January 4–5 and March 12. Student holidays will be observed September 7, October 12, November 11, November 23–27, December 21–January 1, January 18, February 15, March 15 and March 29–April 2.

Dates for school open houses prior to the 2026– 27 school year will be set later.

“We start looking for open house dates in spring,” Kellie Zeigler, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, told school board members. “We start planning on that after we build the school year calendar.”

For the 2027–28 school year calendar, students will have half-days on September 3, October 7, November 5, December 17, January 14, February 17 and February 21, and March 16. Teacher workdays will be held October 8, January 3–4 and March 17. The Thanksgiving break will run from November 22–26 and the Christmas break will be from December 20–31. Spring break for the 2027–28 school year will be held April 17–21, 2028.
