Election generic

The Long County Board of Commissioners has set a special election to fill the seat vacated by Robert Parker Jr.’s resignation.

Gov. Brian Kemp’s office confirmed that Parker submitted a letter of resignation as the county commissioner for the 5th District and it was accepted.

Parker was re-elected in 2024 without opposition in the November general election. With three years left on his term, the county will hold a special election to fill his seat.

Qualifying will be held beginning August 20 at 9 a.m. and last through August 22 at 12 noon.
