Students and staff are back inside Liberty County High School after a bomb threat earlier today prompted an evacuation.
Law enforcement has cleared the building, school system officials said, and the campus has been deemed safe and secure. The school has resumed its normal instructional schedule.
LCHS was evacuated this morning following the receipt of a bomb threat. All students and staff were accounted for while local law enforcement agencies assessed the situation and cleared the building.
Upon receiving the threat, school officials immediately contacted law enforcement, initiating established emergency protocols. Students and staff were evacuated calmly and efficiently to an assembly area. The campus was on lockdown to conduct a thorough search of the premises.
The Liberty County School System will continue to work in close coordination with law enforcement as they proceed with their investigation into this matter. Superintendent Debra B. Frazier thanked students, staff, and families for their cooperation.
“The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We appreciate the calm, quick response of our school community and the diligent work of our law enforcement partners,” she said.
The district encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about the seriousness and consequences of threats made within a school environment.
