The Hinesvile Police Department says a suspect wanted on three charges may have left the area.

The HPD began looking for Gene Elery Rhodes after a video on social media showed a man apparently intimidating a “visibly terrified” female, according to the HPD, “forcing her to say thing on camera while she is clearly suffering from a bloodied mouth and nose.”

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for charges of kidnapping, terroristic threats and battery.

The HPD is working with other law enforcement agencies and is following several leads in the case. Tips and information from the public on Rhodes have been helpful, the HPD said in a social media post, and authorities continue to ask anyone with knowledge of Rhodes’ whereabouts to call the HPD at (912) 368-8211 option 8.
