Early voting in the Midway mayoral runoff concludes today, and polls will open Tuesday for election day voting.
Early voting in the runoff between council members Malcolm Williams and Stanley Brown began Monday, and 56 people cast their ballots. Early voting will be held today from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Ballots can be cast at either the Liberty County Board of Elections and Registration, Suite 1600 in the historic Liberty County Courthouse at 100 N. Main Street in Hinesville, or at the Liberty County Community Complex at 9397 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.
There will be no early voting Thursday and Friday because of the county holiday for Thanksgiving.
Election day is set for Tuesday, December 2, and voting will take place at the Liberty County Community Complex in Midway from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
Brown and Williams were the top two vote-getters n a threeway race for the mayor’s seat, which is being vacated by Levern Clancy. But neither got the majority of votes needed to be declared a winner in the November election.
Williams got 175 of the 502 votes cast for mayor, and Brown received 173.
Not only will Midway have a new mayor beginning in 2026, but the city council will have four new members — Annie Foskey, Janet Bryant Jones, Rhonda Thomas and Vernon Donovan.
