Bradwell Institute administration was alerted by a student Wednesday morning that another student was in possession of a firearm with magazine in a book bag. Administrators, in coordination with law enforcement, immediately investigated the matter, secured the weapon, and the student was taken into custody by local authorities.

At no time were students in danger during this incident. The Liberty County School System commends students who promptly reported their concerns to school staff. The system also encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about the importance of not bringing any prohibited items to school.
