Dear Editor,
Seven Ministries of Liberty County, Inc. is the proud sponsor of the 13th annual Jackie Gilliard- Henderson Memorial Scholarship Walk-a-Thon. The funds raised will be used to award scholarships to graduating seniors from Liberty County’s public high schools who choose to further their education by attending college or technical school in the summer/fall of 2025. Additional funds will help support the organization’s other programs.
The 4.5-mile “Pre Mother’s Day Walk” is scheduled for May 10, 2025. We will meet at 6:30 a.m. at Rebecca’s Place across from First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (at the corner of Rebecca Street and Edelle Osgood Avenue) for registration and commence walking precisely at 7 a.m.
The year, our grand marshals will be Hinesville’s first family: Mayor Karl Riles, first lady Shawndra Riles, first daughter Ashley Riles, first son Cameron Riles, first granddaughter Olivia Riles, first father Carroll “Bubba” Riles and first mother Silvia Riles.
Seven Ministries (a 501c3 nonprofit organization) was incorporated in 2012 and offers a variety of programs that benefit the community. Last year we awarded $4,000 in scholarships, donated nearly $7,000 in gifts to senior citizens and sponsored a back-toschool rally at Rebecca’s Place in Hinesville, where we passed out over $3,800 in school supplies. We also support the local Manna House, homeless organizations, food banks and other charitable causes.
You can participate by walking and/or making monetary tax-deductible donations. This year, we’re asking participants over 21 years old to donate $20, and participants from ages 16-20 to donate $10 (there is no fee for children under 15 years old). For mailings, use 531 Azalea Street, Hinesville, GA 31313 and tax exempt number 17053362317011.
Please join us for this worthy cause.
Thanks and God bless.
Gary Gilliard, President/CEO Seven Ministries of Liberty County, Inc.
