Letter to the editor: Why schools need Frazier’s leadership
letter to editor new

Dear Editor,

As a proud second-generation graduate of the Liberty County School System (LCSS), I have seen its impact on families and futures for decades. My children became third-generation graduates, and now my grandchildren — fourth-generation students — are enrolled. For my family and many others, Liberty County schools are not just institutions; they are legacies.

But legacies must evolve. The needs of today’s students are far different from those of past generations. Our children must be prepared for a fast-changing world — one shaped by technology, global competition, and the demand for critical thinking. They need schools that support not only academic excellence but also social-emotional growth, mental health, and safety. Teachers, too, deserve support, resources, and leadership that empowers them to give their best in the classroom.

Meeting these challenges requires more than administrative skill. It demands a leader who understands education from the inside out — someone who has been in the classroom, faced the realities teachers and students navigate daily, and built systems that work. That leader is Debra Bacon Frazier.

Mrs. Frazier is not only a former teacher but also an accomplished administrator. She knows how to inspire students, support educators, and unite the community around the shared goal of student success. Just as importantly, she knows Liberty County — our values, our history, and our potential. She can bridge the past with the future, honoring our traditions while driving the innovative change our students urgently need.

LCSS cannot afford to stand still. We must have a superintendent who will move us forward with vision, courage, and commitment. For the sake of every child in Liberty County — including my grandchildren — I believe Debra Bacon Frazier is the right person to lead us into a stronger, brighter future.

Dr. Karla Sapp, Midway
