The Bradwell Institute Tigers took their Region 1-AAAAA opener Tuesday night in a convincing 84-59 rout of Glynn Academy.
The Tigers, 11-3 overall, also celebrated the 1,000th career point for junior Zi’on Thomas.
The Tigers fell to the Griffin Bears’ hot 3-point shooting in their finale at Brunswick High School’s Hoopin’ at the High tournament in a 69-55 setback. The Bears were 8-of-17 from behind the arc, and senior Bubba Sullivan drained four 3s on his way to 18 points.
Senior Demari Bailey had a game-high 20 points for the Bears, who shot better from 3-point range (47%) than they did inside the arc (35%). The Bears also committed only five turnovers.
Jaylin Sweat had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, and Thomas had 13 points and six rebounds, but the Tigers also shot just 31% on two-point tries. Keon Grant added nine points and Chris Perry added eight points. Eli Hale finished with seven points and five assists.
The Tigers host Calvary Day, the No. 10-ranked team in Class 3A-1A Private, on Friday and return to region play Saturday against Brunswick.
