Bradwell boys, girls ride to big wins at The Corral

The Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers rode their defense to keeping their Region 1-AAAAA record perfect Friday.

The South Effingham Lady Mustangs never scored more than seven points in any single quarter, and the Lady Tigers cruised to a 68-16 win Friday at The Corral. With the win, the Lady Tigers moved to 18-2 on the season and 4-0 in the region.

Jordyn Rogers had a game-high 15 points, adding six rebounds and three assists. Parris Parham scored 10 points and notched seven rebounds and four assists. Ja’Nya Bush, Jamia Ousley and Destini McLemore each recorded eight points, as 12 Lady Tigers scored. MiKayla Oliveira had six points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers were 0-of-9 from 3-point range but made 30 of 54 two-point shots.

The Bradwell Institute boys posted the most points they have scored in six years with a resounding romp over South Effingham on Friday.

The Tigers throttled the Mustangs in a 96-63 win, the biggest point total since putting up 98 over Glynn Academy in 2019. Bradwell improved to 16-4 overall and 3-1 in Region 1-AAAAA.

Bradwell broke out to a 27-9 lead after one quarter and held a comfortable 58-31 advantage at halftime.

Twelve Tigers scored in the game, and four finished in double figures. Zi’on Thomas led the way with 19 points, Chris Perry scored 14, Jordan Stevens had 12 and Jaylin Sweat added 11. Kohlmin Nelson chipped in nine points, Eli Hale had eight and the Tigers got seven points each from Antonio Haynes and Jordan Jones.

The Tigers made 36 of 57 shots from inside the 3-point arc. They also had 27 assists as a team, topped by Hale’s seven and Haynes’ five.

Will Hardin led the Mustangs with 19 points and Keyian Wade added 13.

Bradwell finishes the regular season with a four-game homestand. The Tigers will host South Effingham on Friday and Brunswick on Saturday and conclude the regular season February 4 at home against Statesboro. Tuesday's game with Glynn Academy was postponed.
