Bradwell opens hoops campaign with routs of Windsor Forest

The Bradwell Institute Tigers basketball teams are off to fast starts.

The boys blasted Windsor Forest 80-42 in the season opener, and the girls raced past Windsor Forest 62-20.

Chris Perry led the boys with 27 points, connecting on 10 of 13 shots from the floor. Zi’on Thomas added 15 points and Eli Hale added 10. Fortune Hicks scored nine points, to go with five assists, as 10 Tigers registered points.

Thomas also notched four blocked shots, and Keon Grant recorded six steals. Perry and Hale each had five steals, and Jordan Gregg had four steals to go with a team-high seven rebounds.

Bradwell jumped out to a 28-6 lead in the first quarter and widened the gap to 45-15 at halftime.

The Lady Tigers blew open their game with a 17-2 run in the second quarter that gave them a 31-9 cushion at halftime. 

Ja’Nya Bush led the way with 14 points, and Jamia Ousley and Mikalya Oliveira each had 12 points. Bush also pulled down nine rebounds and Destini McLemore had eight rebounds. Ousley and Oliveira each had seven rebounds. McLemore also had five steals while Ousley, McLemore and Kaydence Kern, who also had seven points, recorded four assists each.

Bradwell visits St. Andrew’s on Friday night and hosts Liberty County for the Panthers’ season openers on Saturday. The girls game will tip off at 5 p.m. Saturday.
