The Long County Lady Blue Tide softball team is playing at a high level right now. On Thursday, August 28, they hosted the Islands Sharks and coasted to a 14-0 victory in four innings.

Starting pitcher Sophia Brewster singled to start a two-out rally in the bottom of the first inning. Mackenzie Crews followed with a double before Lana Lewis cleared the bases with her own double. Jersi Lester tripled to bring home another run for a 3-0 lead.

In the second, Catherine Sikes delivered a run-scoring single and Brewster’s RBI double made it 5-0. Crews’ second double of the game pushed the lead to 7-0.

Brewster got another two strikeouts in the inning as the Tide bats got hot once again in the bottom of the second.

Lewis made a heads-up play at first as she snagged a pop fly and tagged the runner at first for the double play. Brewster got her sixth strikeout of the game to end the inning.

The Tide kept things going at the plate as they notched another seven runs. Alyssa Skipper led off with a double and Miley Maulden brought her home with a double.

Brewster brought home another two runs with a double to make the score 10-0 before Crews hit a sacrifice RBI and Lewis’ single scored another run.

Kinslee Harold reached on an error to bring home another run before Skipper closed out the inning with a run-scoring double.

Brewster finished off the Sharks with three strikeouts in the fourth as the Tide went onto a mercy rule victory.

This is the Tide’s seventh straight win as they move to 9-2 and 3-0 in region play. In their three region wins, they have outscored opponents 47-0.

They will host another region game on Tuesday, September 2 when they welcome in the Jenkins Warriors.
