Bradwell Institute may be in the market for a new head football coach.
Deshon Brock has submitted his resignation as coach of the Tigers football program, and his resignation awaits approval from the Liberty County Board of Education. Board members will meet today at 5:30 p.m.
In his five seasons, the Tigers posted an 8-40 mark and did not make the playoffs in any of those years. The Tigers also posted a 5-27 mark in region play over that span, with their 2-6 record being the most region wins.
The high water mark was a 3-7 record in 2023. Chris Garrett set a school record for passing yards in a season - 2,426 - and passing yards in a game in 2023, with a 375-yard performance against New Hampstead.
The Tigers have not made the state playoffs since 2019 and have not had a winning season since 2017.
Bradwell has not posted a 10win season since 1997.
Brock, who had been head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Long County High School, spent four years as head coach at Mitchell County. He was 33-11 there, taking the Eagles to four state playoff appearances.
The Tigers finished the season with a 38-34 loss at home to Evans. Junior quarterback Jahbarri Felix threw for 1,594 yards in the nine games. Junior running back Cameron Keeve led the Tigers with 472 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Junior receiver Carlito Savea had a team-high 21 receptions and four touchdowns, with 377 yards receiving, and senior Dewahyne Chapman led the team with 395 yards receiving on 20 catches.
