Georgia Southern will hold its annual Fan Day on Saturday, Aug. 9, at Paulson Stadium. Presented by Optim Orthopedics and Morris Bank, the free event is open to the public and begins at 4:30 p.m. Fan Day combines the university’s First Flight tradition with a fan-focused football experience to create a kickoff to the 2025-26 athletic and academic year, according to a release from Georgia Southern.
Fan Day schedule
• 4 p.m. — Shuttle service begins from designated campus locations • 4:30 p.m. — Stadium gates open and open field access
• 5:30 p.m. — First Flight begins
• 6:30 p.m. — Erk Russell Fund Donor Event at Bishop Fieldhouse
• 7 p.m. — Football practice and scrimmage begins Admission and parking are free and open to the public. Georgia Southern students will enter through Gate 11, while the general public may enter through gates 5, 6, 8 and 12.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m., fans may go on the field for pre-event fun, including photo opportunities, yard games and a chance to walk the turf.
During First Flight, Georgia Southern students and fans will experience a rally filled with traditions, performances from the Southern Pride Marching Band, cheerleaders, the dance team, student contests, team introductions and more.
The event celebrates the start of the academic year and introduces new students to the spirit and culture of Eagle Nation.
Also, Georgia Southern’s Donor Day will take place during Fan Day, offering Erk Russell Fund members an exclusive opportunity to connect with Georgia Southern Athletics. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) in Bishop Fieldhouse, the event will feature season previews from head coaches representing soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving and golf, along with remarks from Director of Athletics Chris Davis.
Supporters also may enjoy a selection of food, including hot dogs, chicken tenders, fries, chips and desserts.
Afterward, the public is invited to watch the open football practice and scrimmage beginning at 7 p.m.
Concessions and the Southern Exchange store will be open on the north concourse of the stadium only. All fans are encouraged to sit in the student section and club level of the stadium.
Kiosks will be set up inside the stadium for ticketing, donations and questions. Fans may purchase tickets at the event, including football season and mini-plan tickets, as well as volleyball tickets, or purchase them online at GSEagles.com/Tickets. Fans may also join the Erk Russell Fund, with membership starting at $60/ year or $5/month online at Give. GSEagles.com.
Additionally, men’s soccer will take on Winthrop University in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. at Bo Pitts Field. Admission is free.
Georgia Southern opens the season on Aug. 30 on the road at Fresno State.
