Liberty girls earn five first-place finishes at annual Plankenhorn meet

The Liberty County girls track team picked up five first-place finishes at the 22nd annual Derrick Plankenhorn Memorial Meet at Southeast Bulloch High School.

The 4x100 meter relay team won with a time of 49.36 seconds, and the 4x400 meter relay team took first in 4:25.72.

Love Elliott took first in the 100-meter dash at 12.65 seconds, Valeria Sanabria won the 400 at 1:02.82 and Zy’Kira Anderson’s 17 feet, 11 inches best took the long jump.

Jaidyn Hayes posted two second-place finishes, with a best of 120-4 in the discus and 35-11.5 in the shot put. Elliott finished third in the 300 hurdles and added a fifth in the 100 hurdles. Anderson took third in the triple jump, and Riniya Roberts was third in the pole vault.

Kirah Smiley was fourth in the shot put and the discus, Amiyah Payne was fourth in the high jump, and Aleia Williams took fourth in the 400.

Liberty also got fifth-place finishes from Valeria Sanabria in the 200 and from Ariana Fields in the pole vault. Payne added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump.

For the Panthers boys, Omari Hill took second in the 100 at 11.12 seconds and Noel Best was second n the 300 hurdles at 41.84.

Best also was third in the 100 hurdles, while Brandon Roberts took third in the high jump and the 4x400 meter relay team was third. Grant Frazier was fourth in the high jump, William Buckley placed fourth in the discus and 4x200 meter relay team placed fourth.

Cameron Pittman was fifth in the 200, and Jaymes Jefferson was fifth in the 300. Rashaud Woods was sixth in the 400, Antonio Garlin was sixth in the long jump, Tremain Toro-Carroll took sixth in the triple jump, Caheim Anderson was sixth in the pole vault and the 4x100 meter and 4x800 meter relay teams placed sixth in their races.

The Long County boys had a pair of first-place finishes, with Cortney Charles winning the discus at 138-11 and Michael Somers taking the long jump at 21-9.75.

Tyler Gamble was third in the 300 hurdles, and 4x800 relay team placed third. Gamble also posted a sixth-place finish in the 110 hurdles, just behind teammate Andre Mills, who took fifth.

Long County got a fourth-place finish from the 4x100 relay team and a sixth-place from Trevor Kuchar in the 1,600 meter run. Mills also finished sixth in the 300 hurdles.

France Smith had three of the Tide girls’ five second-place finishes, taking second in the high jump, the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Amire Saunders was second in the 100, and the 4x200 relay team placed second.

The 4x100 relay team placed third while Devion Ambrose had fourth-place finishes in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Saunders took fourth in the long jump, and the 4x400 relay team finished fourth.

Alauna Brown added fifth-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump, and Kyndall Johnson was fifth in the high jump.
