Panters sweep Highlanders in three-game series

Landon Usher went 3-for-3, leading a 12-hit attack, as Liberty County downed FPCA 10-0 Friday in a non-region baseball game.

Usher tripled and doubled and drove in four runs. Glemon English was 2-for-3 with a homer and a double, knocking in two runs. Caden Chancey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jaden Herrington was 2-for-3.

Chancey also struck out seven and allowed just two hits in five innings. He did not walk a batter.

Friday’s win gave the Panthers a season series sweep of FPCA, having won the first two games 8-0 and 10-3. English, Chancey and Jahair Rodriguez each went 2-for-4 in the 8-0 victory, with Rodriguez knocking in three runs. Landon Usher added a double, and Shedrick Pass tossed six scoreless innings, racking up 11 strikeouts and holding FPCA to five hits.

Chase Streeper was 2-for-3 and Hayden Arney had a double for the Highlanders.

Herrington paced Liberty’s offense in the 10-3 win, going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs as eight different hitters reach recorded at least one hit for the Panthers. Usher had a double in the win. Arney was 2-for-3 with a triple for the Highlanders.

The Panthers improved to 8-3 on the year with the win. They were scheduled to open their Region 3-AAA slate Tuesday with Calvary Day.
