Panther cap busy summer tonight
football

They’ve managed to beat the sweltering heat on the practice field so far.

Now, Liberty County head football coach Tony Glazer wants to see what his team can bring to the field.

The Panthers will host Savannah Country Day in a scrimmage tonight at Donell Woods Stadium/Kirk Warner Field, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Glazer said the summer was good for the Panthers, with good numbers in turnout for workouts as the Panthers changed up a few things on how they get ready for the upcoming season.

“I’m looking forward to see how they perform out there,” he said of the upcoming scrimmage. “I want to see us play a clean game.”

Glazer also is eager to see how physical his team can be against another opponent and not just against each other. The Panthers took part in a padded organized team activity at McIntosh County Academy, facing Glynn Academy, New Hampstead and Jeff Davis.

“It helped a lot,” Glazer said. “We got to see different offenses and different defenses. It was good for us to see different things.

Liberty opens the regular season August 15 at home against Bradwell Institute.
