Parham, Baker top Bradwell girls hoops honors

Bradwell Institute’s girls basketball team took home several honors in voting by Region 1-AAAAA South coaches.

Faye Baker was named the coach of the year, and senior Parris Parham was named the player of the year for the South subregion. Parham averaged 14.7 points per game and 7.4 rebound per game.

Destini McLemore was named co-freshman of the year with Brunswick’s Samyya Gilbert.

Jordyn Rogers and Ja’Nya Bush were named to the South subregion first team, and Jamia Ousley and Ta’Tyana Anderson were named to the second team. Janiyah Blevins earned honorable mention. Rogers, a senior, averaged 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Bush, a junior, averaged 7.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game and shot 55% from the field.

Offensive player of the year went to Brunswick’s Martin Davis and defensive player of the year was Alyssa Martin of Glynn Academy.

The Lady Tigers won the Region 1-AAAAA championship, their first in seven years, and advanced to the state semifinals before falling to Langston Hughes. Bradwell finished with a record of 26-4.
