ATHENS – Bradwell Institute junior Jacobi Pasley may have done something no other athlete in Georgia high school history has done.

Pasley won the 200-meter dash Wednesday afternoon at the Class AAAAA state track meet, making him the state champ in the 100, 200 and 400 this year.

Pasley won the 200 with a time of 21.35 seconds, clipping Langston Hughes' Bryson Harris, who finished at 21.43.

Pasley, who won the 100 at the Region 1-AAAAA meet and turned in the best time at the state sectional, hit the finish line at the University of Georgia’s Spec Towns Track in 10.52 seconds to win the 100 earlier Wednesday. Dayshawn Lagarde, a junior from Villa Rica, was second at 10.67 seconds.

Pasley’s time of 46.57 seconds in the 400 finals was not only a personal record but also was one of the top 25 times in the nation this year. Justyn McKenzie of Alexander was second at 47.09 seconds.

Pasley is the reigning Class AAAAA state champ in the 400-meter dash.

Bradwell Institute’s girls 4x200 relay team of Nemiah Alston, Jamiah Powell, Vicky Foday-Kapka and Jamaika Sumpter was 11th with a time of 1:43.19. Gainesville’s A team won the event at 1:38.93.

Sumpter was 14th in the 100 meters, finishing in 12.52 seconds. Gainesville’s Sincere Williams won with a time of 11.98 seconds.

Foday-Kapka, Powell, Sumpter and Jaidyn Thompson teamed for a 14th-place finish in the 4x100 relay, turning in a time of 49.03 seconds. Woodward Academy’s A team took first in 46.73 seconds.

Alston placed 13th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.90 seconds. Sole Bailey of Jackson County won the event with a time of 41.66 seconds, one of the 25 best times in the nation so far. The top 10 finishers each had a time that was least one of the 50 best turned in this season in the state.

Other events were completed after press time Wednesday.

Liberty County and Long County’s state track qualifiers are competing Thursday.
