The Long County Blue Tide softball team had a historic 2025 season after they finished with a school record 27 wins, won the region championship, and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.
After a great season, the team had more to be proud of after they had 10 players and their coach named to the all-Region 3-AAA teams. Teams were announced Friday afternoon with freshmen shortstop Catherine Sikes and Sophia Brewster leading the charge for the Tide.
Sikes was named Region 3-AAA Player of the Year after an impressive season for the Tide. At the plate, she finished with a .457 batting average and an even better .600 batting average in region contests.
She also had a 1.183 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) with 37 hits, 22 RBIs, and scored 38 runs. She also stole 18 bases and struck out just six times.
Brewster had an equally memorable season for the Lady Tide. She served as the main pitcher throughout the year, starting 30 of 33 games. She was 26-4 and had 231 strikeouts, finishing just three shy of the single-season record set by now-head coach Harley Kennedy in 2015.
Kennedy was named Region 3-AAA Coach of the Year after going 27-6 and winning the region title, her second in just four seasons as head coach.
Since taking over her alma mater in 2022, Kennedy has led the Lady Tide to a 70-38 record and been in the playoffs all four seasons.
Joining Sikes and Brewster on the first team are freshman catcher Mackenzie Crews, sophomore designated player Lana Lewis and juniors second baseman Jersi Lester and outfielder Alyssa Skipper.
On the second team are freshman outfielder Hollan Clark, sophomore third baseman Miley Maulden and junior first baseman Maddi Brannen. Junior outfielder Mallory Skipper was given honorable mention.
This means that the entire starting lineup for the Lady Tide were named to one of the all-region teams. All 10 players are expected to return for the 2026 season.
