Sumpter stars on winning relays at Junior Olympics
Track and Field

Liberty County’s own Jamaika Sumpter is making national headlines after an extraordinary performance at the 2025 USATF Junior Olympics, which were held at Savannah State University’s T.A. Wright Stadium.

Competing among the nation’s best young athletes, Sumpter participated in three events and helped lead her team to two national championships and new personal records.

Sumpter ran as a critical member of the 13/14 girls 4x400m relay team, dubbed the Fantastic 4. In a high-stakes race that featured 37 of the fastest teams across the country, Sumpter and her teammates clocked in with a new personal record of 3:55, earning them the USATF National Champion title in dramatic fashion.

She also anchored her team to first place in the 4x100m relay, again alongside her Fantastic 4 teammates. With flawless handoffs, the team crossed the finish line with a new personal best of 47.43 seconds.

In addition to the relays, Sumpter also competed in the 100 meter dash.
