The Long County Blue Tide flag football team completed a historic season in the fall as they won the Area 2 championship for the first time in team history and advanced to the semifinals of the state playoffs.

During their team banquet on Monday, March 10, the team revealed the Division 1 Area 2 All-Area teams with 12 players being named to the teams and two players being given individual honors.

Freshman Miley Maulden was named Area 2 Player of the Year while senior Kelly Stokes was named Area 2 Defensive Player of the Year.

Stokes and Maulden were joined on the all-area first team by seniors Yuridia Sellars and Makinzie Moody.

Stokes was a key part of the defense that allowed just 110 total points throughout the season while Maulden, Sellars, and Moody all played big roles on the offense. Maulden finished ninth in the state in passing yards with over 3,300.

On the second team were seniors Kyndall Johnson, Ciara O’Brien, and France Smith and junior Ta’mara Mallard. Receiving honorable mention were seniors Deneiya Davis and Abbey Tewalt, junior Amire Saunders and sophomore Jersi Lester.

The Lady Tide will have a lot to replace going into the 2025 season, but they have a great foundation to build on with several all-area players returning next year.
