COAHULLA CREEK - For the second year in a row, a Lady Tide wrestler will be competing in the state championship meet. On Friday, February 6, the Lady Tide competed in Sectional A at Coahulla Creek High School.
The Tide had two wrestlers qualify for the state traditional tournament as Aleena Clark qualified for the first time in her career and Tymiah Powell qualified for the second year in a row.
Clark, a senior, finished fourth in the 100-pound weight class, outright qualifying for the state championship tournament.
Powell, a sophomore, finished in the top 10 in the state last season. She qualified for the state tournament as an alternate as she placed fifth in the 235-pound weight class.
Clark and Powell will both advance to the state traditionals tournament to be held February 12-14 at the Clayton County Convocation Center in Jonesboro.
