Hinesville City Council recently recognized three Hinesville police officers for their life-saving efforts.

Corporal K-Ci Jones was cited for actions on May 15 and responded to a call on an apparent overdose. Jones conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation for over a minute. Jones’ action “reflected the highest standards of the Hinesville Police Department,” Chief Tracey Howard said.

Corporal Tristan Bethea and Officer Cassandra Carter were recognized for their efforts on the morning of July 2. Responding officers were told the individual in need of help may have had an overdose of fentanyl.

Arriving shortly before 7 a.m., Bethea and Carter found the individual had no pulse and administered Narcan and began CPR. Bethea and Carter worked together throughout the resuscitation effort, rotating chest compressions to maintain effective CPR.

They also used a department- issued AED, or automated external defibrillator. Following its use, the individual regained a pulse and showed signs of recovery.

“Their actions demonstrated exceptional teamwork, composure, professionalism and dedication to the preservation of human life,” Chief Howard said.

All three were recognized with the police department’s distinguished service medal.

“They continue to show what good training and what good officers and a good department we have in the city,” Chief Howard added.
