Lady Panthers enter final week on a hot streak

The Liberty County Lady Panthers have won five of their six games, including four by shutout, to improve to 16-11 on the softball season.

Liberty also is now 7-6 in Region 3-AAA.

The Lady Panthers’ most recent win was a 15-0 victory over FPCA. Adalyn Norton was 2-for-2 and Layla Santiago went 2-for-3 as Liberty piled up 11 hits. Aeriela Jemison drove in three runs, Rebekah Campbell tripled and collected three RBIs and Demery Durrence knocked in two runs.

Charlie Mulling and Amelia Remillard each had a hit for FPCA.

Liberty picked up 15-0 and 14-6 wins over Jenkins in a pair of region clashes. Mya Armstrong homered, doubled and drove in five runs in the doubleheader to pace Liberty, going 3-for-5. Jemison was 3-for-6 with a double and knocked in three runs, Durrence went 4-for-7 with a double and a triple, Brighton Harpe was 3-for-6 with a double, Amiyah Payne was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and scored five runs, and Norton went 5-for-5 with two RBIs.

Armstrong struck out eight in five innings, allowing two earned runs, and Kayleigh Barnard tossed three scoreless innings and fanned four.

Liberty goes on the road to face Islands on Monday at 5:30 p.m. and completes the regular season with a Tuesday date with Calvary Day.
