And now they wait.

But the Bradwell Institute Tigers virtually assured themselves of a spot in the Class 6A state football playoffs with a resounding 62-28 win over South Effingham on Friday night at Olvey Field.

The Tigers finish the regular season at 8-2 and with a 6-1 mark in Region 1-6A play. They entered Friday night’s game at No. 17 in the PSR, the highest ranked team in the region. Effingham County, by virtue of its win over Greenbrier and its win over Bradwell earlier this season, won the region title and the automatic berth.

The Tigers exploded past the Mustangs, who were No. 21 in the PSR, with a three-touchdown flurry in the first 3 minutes, 10 seconds of the third quarter, blowing open a 28-20 lead into a decisive cushion. Jacobi Pasley took a pop pass 27 yards on the third play of the second half, Cameron Keeve darted 44 yards for another score on the next play after the Tigers held on fourth down and Danyzion Cobb returned an interception 28 yards for a score, boosting Bradwell’s lead to 49-20 in the space of eight plays.
