Richard “Richy” Braun won the Republican primary for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit district attorney seat.
Braun, appointed to the office by Gov. Brian Kemp when Billy Joe Nelson was named to the circuit’s Superior Court judge’s bench, won all six counties in the circuit.
He won with nearly 60% of the vote.
Jim Kingston, son of former U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston, narrowly edged Amanda Hollowell for the U.S. House 1st District seat. Kingston won by .8%, just over 2,000 votes out of more than 256,000 cast. The seat was open after longtime U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter gave up the seat to run for Senate.
State Sen. Ben Watson fended off Corey Foreman to keep his 1st District seat. State Rep. Buddy Deloach, a former Hinesville mayor, defeated Nathaniel Hicks Jr. to keep his House District 167 post.
