The Liberty County girls finished second, and the boys finished third in the Region 3-AAA track meet, held at Groves High School.
The girls posted 135 points, 15 behind region champion Jenkins, and the boys compiled 127 points, just nine behind second-place Jenkins.
The Panthers girls had just one individual region title – Jazminn Lee had a best of 118 feet, 6 inches in the discus to win it – but had consistently had high finishes in many events.
Amiyah Payne was second in the high jump at 4-10 and second in the triple jump at 34-5, and Ariana Fields placed second in the pole vault at 6-6.
The Liberty girls put together a string of third-place finishes – Brianna Damiani was third in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.85 seconds, the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 meter relay teams each took third, Destinee Gordon was third in the high jump at 4-10, Markara Houston was third in the 100-meter dash at 13.06 seconds and in the triple jump at 34-5 and KaRhianna Marshall was third in the shot put at 31-2. Diamon Dillard also had a third in the discus with a best of 89-1.5.
Payne was fourth in the 100 at 13.09, Elise Bew was fourth in the 1,600 meters at 6:34.43 and Damiani was fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.78. Serenity Carey was fourth in the pole vault.
Two Panthers finished with individual region titles as Demetrius Russell won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.71 and Caheim Anderson won the pole vault at 9-6.
Aaron Garcia was second in the pole vault at 9 feet, Montavius Johnson took second in the high jump at 6 feet, Noel Best was second in the 300 hurdles at 41.51 seconds and second in the 110 hurdles at 15.63 seconds, and Adorian Trayler was second in the 400 meters at 52.12 seconds.
Omari Hill took third in the 100 at 10.98 seconds and was fourth in the 200 at 22.13 seconds. Jonathan Okotcha was third in the 400 at 52.21, and Rashaud Woods was third in the 300 hurdles at 41.71. Liberty County also took third in the 4x200 and 4x800 relays and was fourth in the 4x400. Nathan Mims IV took third in the discus at 129-10.
