The Long County Lady Blue Tide softball team likely will enter the 2026 4A state playoffs as the number one overall seed and they only solidified that on Wednesday, October 7.

The Tide took on First Preparatory Christian Academy on Wednesday to close out the regular season and they dominated from the start in an 15-0 win.

Yaya Sikes got the start in the circle and after a walk, struck out the next three batters. The Tide exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the first.

Those nine runs came off Rilyn Williams’ two-run inside-the-park home run, a Lana Lewis double, Riley Beirbrodt’s two-run single, a single by Sikes, Williams’ two-run triple and Kaydence Hardesty’s single.

Alyssa Skipper took over in the circle in the second and the Tide kept the Highlanders off the board.

The bottom of the second is when they closed out the Highlanders, scoring six runs to go up 15-0.

Maddi Brannen brought home two runs after a walk to Demi Wasdin and Reese Davis’ double.

Skipper brought home Brannen and her twin sister Mallory on a double before Williams tripled for a second time to score Skipper.

Hardesty brought home Williams on a double as the Tide led 15-0 going into the third. They held off the Highlanders again to end the game.

The Tide finish the season 18-4 and enter the state playoffs as a top-seeded team, likely as the number one team. They will host the first round of the state playoffs with a doubleheader on Wednesday, October 14. Their opponent is still to be determined.
